The Gradens of Lantau (Gabby's Birthday Week HK-Macau 12/03-08/16)

Hong Kong has long been our family's top travel destination especially Disneyland. Marlon has decided that it was the right time to take our LitolBiw to Disneyland to celebrate her 5th birthday. To make our trip worth the while we decided to have a week-long celebration and have a mini tour around Hong Kong and straight up to Macau as well!

The title "The Gardens of Lantau" will enable you to see the family's visit to two of Lantau's famous gardens. No flowery path but a display of loyalty, deeply rooted pride and devotion to the first people that helped make Hong Kong amazing!

Scroll down to see how Hong Kong people paid tribute to their forefather's legacy!

Amazing stretched of water, fronting the heavy commercialized streets of Hong Kong.

Getting lost somewhere down the road :)

For the first 3 nights, we checked in at Rosedale Hotel around Kowloon. It was the place that we see best as it is nearby some of the touristy spots in Hong Kong.

The place, in general, was cozy and chic, decked with Christmas tapestries as we went there during December. The air was chilly and the atmosphere was playing around at 18 degrees. Our accommodation at Rosedale Hotel was the cheapest as we have been saving up for Disneyland Hotel for our last 2 nights in Hong Kong. Albeit cheap and small in space, the room was neat and comfortable.

First Day (Getting lost and getting confused as part of the fun!)

We were extra lazy on our first day, due to the cool weather that gave us difficulty leaving the sheets! We have been too few places only, of those, two were noteworthy.

Around Cheung Sha Wen on our way to Han Garden. The streets reminisced old Hong Kong style. The edifice were rugged, perfect evidence of day to day life struggle on the busy streets.

I especially love the vibe of this place. A picture of civilization, commerce, and the booming economy. It was like living like the locals, walking alone on these streets, one can feel that Hong Kong spirit!

Han Garden

More like a garden of Tombs that dated centuries long before. A place with deeply rooted history, even the dead could tell a tale or two just by looking at the manuscripts and engraved writings on each stone.

Mama and Papa taking turns to have a selfie with our superstar!

Composed of a brick tomb that is believed to have been built during Eastern Han Dynasty. Due to the effort of the Hong Kong Government to preserve the tomb, visitors were not made to enter the tomb itself, instead, it can be viewed through a glass panel.

Details on the discovery of the tomb, artifacts, bronze, and pottery were displayed in the exhibition hall. The staffs were extra courteous and will gladly tour you around the museum. They hardly speak English but would go through extra mile to help you understand better what the objects, writings signifies. They offered leaflets and will guide guests to every corner of the hall. A deep pride of their lineage, I suppose!

We enjoyed the piece of Hong Kong's history that we learned during our visit to Han Garden. It was worthy of the long walk we had to take to reach the place.

Happy campers? Yes, we are!

Garden of Stars

A magnificent tribute to some of Hong Kong's local film industry staged in breathtaking waterfront located along Tsim Tsa Tsui.

Look at those handprints, it once belongs to some of Hong Kong's great people that helped shaped their movie industry! It was like having the chance to high-5 with them!

Selfie I did!

The high-5 that I mentioned earlier, but not exactly how high-5's should be! hahaha

I was like "Papa, have a picture with Jet Li's statue!" Lucky no one heard. Sorry, Bruce and yes, It was nice to know you!

Our first day in Hong Kong was exciting and at the same time exhausting. There were various places we've been lost to but the fun that comes with it was definitely one for the books.

Till next time Hong Kong! December was a great month to be there. No extra sweat after all that walking! And oh, a cute cup of coffees too!
