The Highlands of Genting and the Wonders of Kuala Lumpur - Gabby's 7th Birthday

Happy 7th Birthday Gabby! This time around, no magical castle, no spinning teacups and no princesses in lovely gowns and tiaras. This time, we will take you to a place where mountaintop meets the cloud, where the air is at its freshness and where adventure is real. I've known this place, I've met it in one of the pages of that glossy magazine I took out from the mail. I've never forgotten it since then. There is also this place, it boasts an amazing wonder of a tall skyscraper, not one but two - standing in unity. Now, on your 7th birthday, let us take you there. A place where adventure meets fun!

The highlands of Genting.

It was a place floating above the land, right at the top of the mountainous terrain of Genting. It was freezing, you can never tell apart the fog from the clouds. The sharp cold wind, if not with ample clothing can literally freeze you. It was a breath of fresh mountain air. It was almost too nice you'd never want to leave.

We get there by gondola. Not our first time but too many times taking a gondola ride would never be enough. It was always enjoyable and the lands we passed beneath us - breathtaking!

The World's Largest Hotel

Where else could the gondola take us but to a fancy accommodation I am sure we'd never forget for quite some time. We stayed for 2 nights at the world's largest hotel, the First World Hotel. The facade boasts the color of that of the merry and bright! The interior beams with that of the elegance and the romance of Paris. The whole place was wide, I swore I could have thought we were in another world! It was so huge, I'd get lost within its beauty.

Birthday at Genting and the fun before that

King's Palace

Before arriving in Genting, we had a mini excursion. we've been to the King's Palace. It was marvelous, the paints were of faux-gold and I regret to have only seen it behind the gates.

Strawberry Farm and the real scent of Lavender

We indulged ourselves with the scent of real lavender, it was relaxing and mild in ways more than one. It was refreshing and tempting to jump into the field of lavender and bathe in its scent!

At the same place where a bed of strawberries, we've seen how they were grown and how they were harvested to bring joy to a platter of pancake.

We've been to one more place, it was called Harriston, and you know why I don't have a decent photo of it? I'll tell you why,  Harriston was a house full of chocolates - free taste, delectable buy and oh it was the place that made me the happiest! Just look at this cute little yummy bear of sweetness! Isn't he mouth watering??

The Highlands at last!

First day - Hotel and Pikachu live show

We spent the remaining half of the day strolling down the huge hotel. First World Hotel was a place of entertainment - live shows, cinema, indoor theme park, and boutiques. A place for the young and the young at heart.

Second Day - Gabby's birthday and Dora Live Show.

On her birthday, we paid a visit to Chin Swee Temple, shopped for toys and clothes at the Branded Outlet, and Papa gave her the ultimate present to wrap up her birthday - a ticket to watch Dora live show.

Chin Swee Temple was a beauty above the clouds. What made our trip even more fascinating was how the air was chilly, the rain drizzled tiny drops on us, the fog thickened and made the view even more wonderful.

Next, we went to the branded outlet. We shopped for toys and clothes. Gabby had three more Disney Princesses, little trinkets, a skirt and two new pairs of pj's from hush puppies.

The night on Gabby's birthday, we've had carnival, sumptuous dinner and danced and sang with Dora, Boots, and friends! She was having all the fun a birthday girl deserved!

The wonders of Kuala Lumpur

On the third day of the birthday trip, we left early from Genting to KL. We reached KL late in the day so we had ourselves rested at the comfort of Concorde Hotel. Gabby took a dip at the pool, rested for an hour in our room and off we went to KL tower, mini zoo and the Petronas Twin Towers. The next day was an adventure that was first for the family. Exploring a cave temple and the dark cave that conserved wonders of the ancient world.

KL Tower and the Skydeck

KL Tower is the seventh tallest telecommunication tower in the world. Standing proudly at 421 meters right in the eye of the city center of Kuala Lumpur. The tower also offers an attraction to those who paid a visit. A glass Skydeck for the brave and the daring, a telescope for the peering eyes of the curious to have a closer look at the city and a mini zoo for those who love the furry and the fluffy.

Mini Zoo

What made this trip to the zoo different than the other zoo that we've been was how the encounter with the animals was real and close. We got to touch, feel and feed the animals. The animals were caged during our visit but from what the guide has told us, most times of the day, the animals were left to roam except for the mischievous ones and the snakes!

The animals were domesticated and lively. They are very used to human interaction. Even the turtles were everywhere, I'd even mistaken one for a rock!

Petronas Twin Towers

The epitome of beauty and modernization at the heart of KL. We were inside one of the towers, the lower floors below housed designer pieces and names every girl wants to wear, fancy restaurants and eye-popping Christmas decorations!

It rained on us, the sky was the dark of the night but the beauty of the twin towers glow brighter than that of the moon! No echus, Petronas Twin Towers was truly jaw-dropping! It made Gabby excited, it was incomparable, to have seen it up close. It was far more beautiful, looking at it from the lens of my very eyes than what was captured and printed onto one of that glossy magazine I've seen.

Batu Cave

Our trip to Batu Cave finalized our Genting X KL Trip for Gabby's 7th Birthday. It was also this trip that highlighted the entirety of our 4 days trip in Malaysia. We were totally in awe with how mysterious and rich a cave can get. Personally, it got me into thinking, how was life before modernization, ages before us, how the world was pure and wholesome. Batu Cave was for me a representation of resilience - it has stood thousands of ages, only to show our generation how beauty was and will be if preserved and protected.

The Dark Cave Conservation Site

It was dark, cold and tranquil. All we heard was the singing of the bats, but have never seen them. They must have flown above our head, but we have never felt them. We were told, in the cave lies an arthropod that survived the Jurassic era, the trapdoor spider, and many more living organisms that evolved and nurtured in the darkness. It was an educational tour of how limestones were formed, how the organisms living in the cave coexisted and survived. Gabby was so intent during the tour, so does me and Marlon. That was the best conclusion of a very joyful trip to a country that is rich in history.

Happiest 7th Birthday Gabby, we were glad to have seen you enjoyed the trip as much as we do! We will see you again real soon Malaysia! Thanks for the wonderful time!
