I always want to do overnight camping but am too hesitant to actually test the waters. Finally, a night in the summer of 2022, I had a cold-feet no more and started a check-out frenzy off my Canadian Tire and Amazon wishlists. Before my bravery fades into nothingness, I booked the family for an overnight camp at Sibbald Point. The travel was only an hour from Toronto, so if anything crawls on the bed at night, we'll pack and go home.
The check-in to the campground did not take long as we had the reservations ready online. We just have to get our permits printed at the booth to go to the campground. Our check-in time is supposed to be 2 pm but we got lucky as no one was at our campsite when we reached there. We unpacked and set up our tent, table, and equipment.
Our campground has no electric and radio access, we were tucked in between a curtain of trees, on a grassy cool, and moist earth with the sounds of birds as accompaniment. Flying fireflies at night is our light, cool wind as our air conditioning and the serenity of it all, close to nature was our home for the night.
I had my outdoor cooking happen right there, outdoor dining, and an overall warm feeling.
The campground is nice and natural, there were insects but the strong smoke from the burning wood easily chased them away. The beach although busy and packed with people, was equally stunning. There were picnics for the day of large families, playing, and summer heat that is nicely warm. The water is cold but that did not stop Biw from taking a dip.
I will remember this trip for the day that was fun and the first of everything. The night that follow was not worth mentioning as it did not turn out how it should be. Maybe, the disappointment happened so we can go back to car camping next time, our attitude in check, patience more lengthy and handle every situation that came up differently.
