2023 MBG Places Ontario Series - Shamrock Bay (June 16-19, 2023)
Happy Poopsie Day Papa! Celebrating the man of the house to the scenic waterway of Trent Severn. Cottage for the weekend at Shamrock Bay Resort is a good idea. The road to Muskoka is always an enjoyable ride. From bodies of water, magnificent houses, and enigmatic displays of rocks by the roadside.
We arrived late in the afternoon and the resort is devoid of people. We did not see anyone at all. The guest reception office fronts the view of the marina. We were greeted by the considerable quantity of water sports vehicles and equipment littered at the dock. The air was chilly, but the place was serene, and relax-worthy.
The night we had were shared with trivia games over bbq, roasted marshmallows, and a bonfire. Music subtly in the background, and only if stars ever shone so bright, that night could have been perfect!
We explored the resort and amenities on our first full day. The resort came fully alive, the residents and guests were out chasing the sun. The mouth-watering smell of bbq chicken and pork dominates the air. Lots of kids running and jumping about. Such a lovely little community and so inspiring - I really want a cottage for us too.
Biw wanted to try the pool, the size is decent and not too crowded. The adjacent park is also inviting. Just a little over the corner is a basketball/ tennis court that we can use too.
We spent the day getting stressed out in the water on a canoe. The multitude of water equipment on the dock made it extra hard to get into the open water. It is especially windy and that invited fear of falling off the canoe into the blackest water I've ever seen in my life. I bet it was cold too, Canadian waters are notoriously chilly.
The activities did not entertain us that long, we got bored and cold and so we decided to have a beer and chill in the cottage. Biw had a lovely Netflix and Coke, while I get to catch up on work and coffee. Later that night, Theo, Sharon, and their dog Hendu finally arrived. Now we are a crowd!
We had a scattered activity on our second day. Gabby went to the pool once more, I stayed with her and finished my book. Papa was with Theo and Sharon playing balls. Hendu, on the other hand, did not like the heat and decided to whine and be brought back to the cottage. Such a star.
We had bbq for lunch, chit-chat over drinks in the afternoon, and enjoyed a nice and peaceful dinner.
Our last day was never fully enjoyed in the resort because we had to leave early back to Toronto. Pre-Monday is always the busiest. Today was also Father's Day. While the day was mostly spent on the road, we made sure that the trip was nothing short of amazing. The company of friends and pets is always a good break from work and the busyness of life.
Happy Poopsie Day again papa, the day is yours but instead, you celebrated us. What you do for us is never enough, because it is always extra in leaps and bounds!
