Still Feels Like the First Hello: 1 Year in Toronto Today 👋🇨🇦

16 Nov 20

Four seasons later, here we are, celebrating our 1st year in Great White North. ❄️☀️🌻🍂 🇨🇦 Wow! Did we just survive notoriously cold frozen February? We were born in the tropics, being far out cold here but loving every day of it.  Oh don't start with the snow, those white little flurries are just lovely. ❄️⛄🥰 360 days, every piece of time and a lot of baby steps are taken. Each day is a bucket-load of blessings we are eternally thankful to God for! 👨‍👩‍👧

The Journey:
The 1st-month musings: We are a month in Toronto today!
The 6th-month musings: MBG is 6 months in Toronto Today

4 seasons: Spring and half of the Fall season was spent on lockdown

November 16, 2019 - we flipped timezones. We said goodbye to Singapore and said hello to Toronto. All that happened that day were still vivid. I remember the last meal we had in Singapore, the little airplane conversations, the clothes we wore, how cold my feet were, and how I can’t stop smiling! I remember the first touch of snow, how white everything around us was, how it was freezing! It's a roller coaster of emotions packed with anxiety and excitement! Deep breathes in between and prayers said a little too much!

Oh, the butterflies in our tummy!

November 16, 2020 - a year later and still feels like our first hello! We've gone to only a few places, time is spent mostly at home and where it matters most and I know it's true for the rest of the world. We still live in the same apartment only that it is no longer bare. We slowly bulk in some furniture and little what-not that makes a home cozy and nice. I still took the same subway to work, it would be the case for Marlon too, only now, he is working from home. We are blessed to know a few beautiful souls and Gabby is enjoying school.

The few good people we met, insert ate Dora and ate Cecilia and the rest of the Filipino kapitbahay

Lots of trip to the park then to a few touristy places

It was a year of patience, self-love, and reevaluation.  With all that is happening, being here in a place we felt more than ever closer to home, is an answered prayer. Cheers to what's ahead! MBG is 1 year today in Toronto!
