Incubus Concert and the Picturesque Niagara on the Lake

2024 Places Ontario Series + Event - Aug 6-7, 2024.

Incubus (the band) - an epithet to a not-so-well-loved Demon (in male form) of forbidden desire, parallel Succubus (its female form). While the mythical representation has left nothing to celebrate, the band, however, denounces what is forbidden. The band leverages the desire to bring happiness to listening ears, earning the Incubus a name that warrants all there is to celebrate.

Day 1 - The Concert.

Naturally so, when Incubus announced to bring their legend to Ontario's stage we were among those who hit the gas and drove the venue. Leaving further notices behind, pack and go was the motto.

The concert was to happen in Niagara which is quite a distance from home. Driving back is not very kind to us at nightfall so we decided to book an overnight stay. Homes were locked early that morning, the road was traveled cheerfully, and we arrived in time for lunch to some festivities. It turns out, that a Filipino-themed event is being held at a location perfectly along our path of travel.

Filipino booths are a dime a dozen, booths of trinkets, souvenirs, apparel, and food! A quick stop to grab quick bites, but ended up hungry still. When we reached Niagara, we had our lunch part two at a Vietnamese restaurant.

Meeting Incubus is not until sundown, Biw had a little swim in the hotel's pool, and we had the rest of the hours allotted for relaxing. We need the energy level back up for the night! We knew that the concert was going to be epic, we knew that singing along and feeling it all required more than just presence.

After the dinner was taken and the Biw ready for bed, we dressed up to rock and roll in our Incubus shirts. Marched the venue hurriedly, we must have Jack and Coke to go with the excitement.

We had a decent place in the crowd, not so close leaving us daydreaming endlessly and not too far leaving the rest of the night in regret. We had so much fun to say is an understatement, we had a huge memory bank that night, forever etched magnanimously in our hippocampus.

That night we saw legends, we sang legends, we danced legends. We didn't meet with the demon, we met legends. The band redefined Incubus, I know even long before we had the chance to see them, but that night cemented it all.

Day 2 - Niagara on the Lake.

To make up for the miles and the overnight hotel stay, we decided to extend happiness by exploring picturesque Niagara on the Lake. The town exudes old-charm elegance, unapologetic in her prestige, boastful in magnificence and truly deserving to be called the beauty of the Niagara region.

My words won't measure up to the town's beauty, everything everywhere commands poetry which I am severely inadequate. The flower-lined path of sidewalks and walkways, 19th-century-ish edifices, drool-worthy eateries and unassuming nook of twists and turns had so very much a story to tell. Describing Niagara on the Lake in prints would do no merit, a well-preserved village in the heart of the wine county requires not word of mouth but eyes to see and appreciate.

The Niagara on the Lake tour was a long time coming, the concert, however, was spontaneity at its best play. None of the two we regret ever doing and going but both of the two we will always look back fondly. It truly is a huge deposit to our bank of memories of places, events, and eats that this family blog is dedicated to.

All the best of words, experience, and feeling. Incubus and Niagara on the Lake is a happy conclusion to MBG's summer of 2023. Once again, thank you, Lord for the gift of time.
