The Marcoses 2024 Provinces Series - The Maritimes (July 13-24)
This short is a wind at our back! The road from PEI to New Brunswick if not symbolic, was never an ordinary journey. We crossed from PEI through NB via the iconic Confederation Bridge. We made lots of stops along the way making our 9th day in the Maritimes the most adventorous we had.
Visiting PEI was a dream come true and coming to New Brunswick was a grasp of reality - the world is a masterpiece, its beauty so immense and enigmatic incomparable to any dreams. We were not prepared with how original and novel New Brunswick was! NS and PEI inspired me to write my feelings into words, echoing a life lived harmoniously by the ocean-side. New Brunswick, in contrast to a perfect stillness, is rugged, rebellious and true. It was the realness of nature in full display, unmasked and bare. New Brusnwick is an enigma!
I dived the internet looking for postcard places in New Brunswick but found none. One that frequently comes up however, is a silent scream of reality - rugged beauty. This realization somehow inspired us to maximize our tour that has lead us to three iconic stops!
We were baptized a trully Canadian vagabond on this mini excursion. We traversed an ancient seemingly endless scenic nature trail, walked on the beach and did a little bird watching. We also explored a 19th century lighouse and had an unrivaled view of the historic Confederation Bridge through the observation deck. Cape Jorimaine also boasts artisanal gift shop and adequate snack options.
It was an honor to finally behold the mighty Confederation Bridge. The massive structure rose proudly against the turbulent waters, a testament to the strength and determination of our courageous ancestors who toiled with sweat and sacrifice to unite communities and connect the hopes and dreams of countless people.
New Brunswick is known not only for its rugged landscape but also for its juicy lobster. In my view, the Giant lobster in Shediac was as a tribute to these delicious crustaceans, giving New Brunswick a distinct authenticity that sets it apart from any place we've visited.
A meal featuring the juiciest lobster is the perfect homage to Shediac. We also enjoyed a brief tour where we learned about the fascinating life cycle of a lobster. Shediac is a charming and lively little village in New Brunswick, a must-visit stop for anyone passing through.
Unlike many other tourist destinations, New Brunswick doesn’t follow the general consensus for attracting visitors. Instead, it proudly celebrates its natural beauty, embracing what it has to offer and sharing it generously with those who come to relish in it. Concluding our 9th day in the Maritimes with high expectations!
The following day is a Biw-day, a day in our trip where she takes the helm to manuever our ship and be the captain of our little crew. Let's see where she would be dropping anchor next, but while on land - let us end this short with a photo my favorite people.
