Beyond the Cliffs of Andaman Sea: Sail Away to Krabi

Imagine yourself lounged under the glistening sun. Surrounded by magnificent seascapes of hanging garden atop a limestone cliff, cradled by the waves of emerald water of the Andaman. I imagined it, a thousand times too many. Krabi has always been my dream destination. Not because an island was in the movie but I have always known that there is something enchanting beyond those cliffs. It was Krabi itself, the most chillax place on the planet!

We have Krabi for our eyes to feast on and our palate to satiate on for 5 days. Divided the days of the week for in-between tours and lazing around Aonang. We stayed at the most chill, not to mention cheap hotel in the area, with pretty much anything within an arms reach! From food stops, shopping, and the beach.

Day 1: Arrival in Aonang, Krabi

Arrived pretty much late in the afternoon. Had an ample rest at our hotel room, strolled around Aonang and had a seafood platter for dinner. And oh, did I forget to mention the beer and the pineapple rice? What is Thailand without pineapple rice and Chang, an ice cold bottle of Chang! What a great start to an awesome week!

Ooops! One plate biased, I see pizza :D

Now we are talking! Beer anyone?

The only picture we had on the area :D too fascinated to click and snap!

Day 2: 7-island tour.

Yes, you read it right! 7-island in a day. Need I say more? Well, let these photos do the talking!

Clearly, you will see, who is excited and who is ambivalent!

Viking Cave. Home to a certain species of birds, where their nest are harvested for an authentic Chinese Soup. Let me tell you one thing, while this cave looks stunning and visit-worthy, tourist won't be able to look at it from up close because this island is privately owned by one of Thai's wealthiest man!

Lo Sama Bay. Serene blue water enclosed in giant Karst formations.

Maya Bay. You know that island form The Beach, a Leo Di Caprio movie? This is the place! Scenic and truly jaw-dropping. While we were in awe of how stunning the blue water is complimented with huge cliff formations, we were also in awe of the number of tourists flocked the bay. While it is definitely one for the books, that much of tourist in one place is not beautiful at all! There should be a limit on the number of tourists allowed in a day.

Forget Leo Di Caprio, Marlon Marcos is the man!

Snorkeling in between Chicken Island and Monkey Island. The Biw had so much fun. She was not scared considering it was her first try. She was as enthusiastic after the swim, she has seen corals, different kinds of fishes, she was having an all-new experience in an underwater world!

Phi Phi Don. We had our lunch here, the island was all nice and tranquil. Long stretched of white sands and glistening blue water.

Bamboo Bay. Docked here are the many vessels the tourist used for the island hopping. We had a little snorkeling, the fishes are visible due to clear waters. Awesome dip, awesome trip!

Day 3: Aonang Beach and the Chill Life.

Our 3rd day in Krabi spells chill and relax. How I wish every day would be as smooth sailing as that day. Beer and chips, sand and sun, chill and fun!

I am so moving to Krabi, for the beer, for the beach, and for the chill! Haay kahayahay sa Thailand!

Playing in the sand :)

Playing with waves :)

The beach is her playground!

Day 4: Nature Trek

A different take from our Phuket trip last year. This time we were up for a little trek to the jungle, only to be rewarded with a hidden gem of a paradise!

Hot Spring Waterfall. Relaxing soak in a natural hot spring with tiny pools of water for your aching body to waddle on.

Emerald Pool. Walked an extra mile to reach this beautiful place. Truly deserving of its name, the water is of emerald hue, mossy corals touched our toes and little fishes too!

The place didn't disappoint! Walked this path that seems like forever, only to be rewarded with an awesome dip in the emerald pool.

Tiger Cave Temple. No, we didn't see live tigers. I wished we had! But we have seen mischievous monkeys. Seen real caves, but not the place in totality. Haven't had the courage to climb a thousand steps to the summit.

Ended the day with a platter of heaven!

Day 5: Last Day in Krabi.

While it is our last day in Krabi, the fun and the memories will be forever treasured! What made Krabi more appealing aside from the awesome seascapes was how the place stays relaxed amid the hustle bustle of the many tourists in the area. It was our 2nd time in Thailand, and the place never ceased to amaze us! It continues to bring wonder and left us wanting more!

Big smiles in the Land of Smile! :)
