Ensaymada

This classic filipino merienda is ready for grabs straight from your oven. Classic bread rolls glazed with butter and topped with cheese. If you like it extra sweet, a dusting of sugar will do just after you glazed them with butter and then sprinkle the cheese after.

Ingredients


You will need:

  • Dough
  • 250g flour
  • 110ml warm  evap
  • 40g butter or margarine softened 
  • 3g salt
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 50g white sugar
  • 4g yeast
  • 1 egg

Eggwash

  • 1egg yolk
  • 2 tbsp evap
  • 1tsp sugar
  • Pinch of salt
Combine and Mix together

Toppings

  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla
  • Beat until pale and fluffy
Combine and mix together

Instructions

  1. Flour, yeast mix
  2. Sugar, salt, vanilla
  3. Egg and water, mix
  4. Knead
  5. Add butter
  6. Knead for another 6 mins
  7. Brush with butter, Rest for 30 mins
  8. Cut into 65 g
  9. Assemble the ensaymada



  1. Rest for 3 hrs
  2. Preheat oven for 180c
  3. Bake for 20- 25 mins
